2020: The Year in shozoga
2020 has been a tumultuous year. From the Coronavirus pandemic and racial strife to the passing of loved ones and celebrities, let's look back on this year and all the people who made it what it was.
The Coronavirus pandemic shook the world to its core. The world was put on lockdown. Students were schooled remotely. Millions of US citizens lost their jobs while the economy experienced the worst downturn since the great depression. Most importantly, COVID-19 killed over a quarter million US citizens... and counting. Thanks to the doctors and scientists who developed vaccines to combat the virus, we can see an end to this nightmare. The one thing that we'll remember are the healthcare professionals who risked their own lives to save the lives of strangers. They are true heroes.
The US election occurred in November yet wasn't decided (via the official electoral college vote) until December. Even though Joe Biden and Kamala Harris will be our next President and Vice President, respectively, we have a president who, as of this writing, refuses to concede the election. The current President has lost nearly 60 court cases to overturn the election results. His so-called "elite strike force team" of lawyers present no evidence of widespread election fraud in court yet spew falsehoods of fraud in public hearings; they hold televised press briefings between a porn shop and a crematorium, show up to hearings with witnesses that are on their second martini and leak what appears to be bile from their face.
We have one less family member at our holiday table this year due to COVID-19; she was 96 years old. We also lost several celebrities this year due to cancer, accidents and natural causes, including Kobe Bryant, Fred Willard, Jerry Stiller, John Lewis, Chadwick Boseman, Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Alex Trebek.
Take a look back at the year that was 2020.
